Very old Chinese Jade Amulet Need Interpretation of Characters Please

This is a very old chinese Jade pendant encased in Sterling Silver. I know that the Jade is untreated natural Jade. I would be grateful for any help in identifying what this pendant is supposed to represent and for the interpretation of the characters.

Characters on Jade are often of a difficult-to-read type, like this. I can only read "Da Tang" pointing to a relation with the Tang dynasty (the content, maybe). The metal frame can hardly be from that dynasty, though.
