No Pieter, family marks are virtually unheard of in China. There is a variety of private marks.
Sometimes it is the name of the ordering party. For example, if a trader in tea or tea utensils orders items for their shop or clients, the name of the shop or client might be used.
Or, if it is a gift, for example, the name could be that of the donor or the recipient. Depends on the case.

In your case this is likely either the name of the ordering party, or the name of the porcelain shop where the porcelain was painted, I would think.

Hi Peter.

Thank you for your comment.
It is a strange mark, because up till now
nobody knows exactly what it means.
If it is private ?? Has that something to do
with a familymark ?

Strange is it anyway.

regards Pieter

mark characters
by: peter

Hi Pieter,

We still have difficulties with some characters, as they are not written in a regular Zhuanshu style.
The first character is "xiang", the last two seem to be "zhizao", which means "made".

Someone with knowledge in seal characters might be better able to help, as these characters resemble more the characters on seals than those on porcelain. Still, a private mark.
