Hi Peter, I did not mention to you that when I cleaned the bottom of the figurines, I am not sure what came off, but my wash cloth turned brown, not the whole rag but just area of the rag that was used to clean, and it dose not come off the rag almost like a paint or something, could it have been something to make it look old or could it have been deposited when it was fired, it appears to be the same color as the bottom of the figurines just before you get to the foot, they whitened up a quit a bit as you can see, talk to you later, thanks from Stan.

clear pictures of the mark by: Stan
Hi Peter, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on the phoenix figurines, as you know from previous postings, I have been having problems with my digital camera, it was old and finally gave up the ghost as I was trying to respond to your generous contributions, so needless to say I bought a new camera and what a difference, I thought it was just me, maybe a combination of the two, but here are the pictures, I cleaned up the bottom like you said the marks do seem to be more readable, thanks from Stan. P.S. the pictures will be sent at the Antiques Blog site.

phoenix figurines by: peter
Stan, From the overall excellent state and the fresh colors of the glaze I would think it is from the republican period. This is a guess. It is more difficult with figurines to tell.
I would try to clean the bottom. Scrubbing it should do not damage. Maybe the mark gets clearer?

pair of porcelain phoenixs by: Stan
Thanks for your help, Peter, I really thought these were old, but then after I put this on your blog, I went on e-bay and I saw two pairs for sale there, I hope they are not fake, from Stan.

peacocks are phoenixes by: peter
Stan, This is a pair of phoenixes, usually they come in a male/female pair. The mark is a private mark. (Made by Quan Sheng Sheng) I will need some time to look at this.
