Hello Peter,
I came across this tureen in an antique shop & because it was not expensive, I took a punt on it & bought the piece.
The tureen has onglaze enamels only with blue used very sparingly.
Looks like famille verte because the majority of green.
there is also an attempt to produce shading by overlaying different colours.
Thickly potted, with a greenish tinge to the porcelain glaze.Very heavy piece I guess for the size.
Has a lot of scratches on surfaces..looks like its been used a lot.
The outline of the drawings are all done in a dark brown & then filled in with colours.
There is a faint 2 or a Z inside the bottom of the bowl...I thought this might be an export piece, but I have no idea when it was made.
The colours grabbed me,as they seem to be fairly limited & the famille figures don't seem to fit into the medallion style?
The orange on the bottom of the base really looks like burnt porcelain.
A lot of inconsistencies in this piece when I compare it to the more traditional types of export porcelain images on the internet..those pieces seem to be easily grouped & recognised.
Do I have a modernish piece with borrowed characteristics from other styles & periods?
regards,Stewart

Hi Peter,
have added 4 more images.
the wear seems genuine.
regarding the bottom of the tureen...it is slightly concave in shape & it is considerably thinner, than the rest of the wall thicknesses.
balance of the whole piece seems right...not bottom heavy.
faces, hair & eyes pointing to right, are all done in the same manner & quality on all the figures
Theme seems to be courtship of males & females.
Some male figures wear winged hats.
regards Stewart.
