lion dog ming bowl?

by Ryan
(Thailand)

Here is the last piece for today. The picture is not too clear looking at the details.. but it has plenty of wear. I was told this was a lion dog. I am not sure of its age, from my small collection of marks, it compared closest to a Wanli mark called Wanfu Youtong perhaps. It is likely altogether different but that is why I am here.. to ask the pro.

I am interested to hear about this one.

Thanks again..

Hi Peter. I am sure that what I paid is a good price. I wrote down that I paid the equivalant of 45 dollars.. 1500 baht. I may have paid 60 dollars for it but no less. Usually I choose 1-5 items and then get a 20% discount added on.

The thing is, is that I know a special shop which is very likely much cheaper than any shop in Bangkok. It houses many fakes as well.
I still have to check Bkk prices. Sometimes one can find cheap items at amulet markets too.. although most are fake. Now.. I am not sure what it is worth in general... but if you could let me know, that would be cool. I might send this piece to auction sometime if I need the money.
Thanks again..

Here in Taiwan that would be on the lower end now, I think. You're still better off buying in your place. Maybe there also less fakes.

Yes, it is the second mark you mentioned. Late Ming dynasty. May I ask what you pay for something like this in Thailand?
