The one at Peter's link is same height as one sold June 4, 1985 by Sotheby's from J. M. Hu collection, no. 20 (sale code "Ming"-5339), but looks thinner in image.

Decoration of yours is inspired by original Kangxi items but not so finely painted.

Agree it is a modern product.

I don't think the "mallet" is appropriate in this case. In Chinese this is a "bell" vase. What is called a "mallet" vase in Chinese has a slightly different shape.
The neck is longer than usual. Should be about half of overall height.

I do not know this type of vase well, but I have the impression that the underglaze red is not right. It should be based on copper, but this doesn't seem to be a copper based red to me.
The color of the mark and specifically a certain character aren't what they should be if they were from the official kiln in the Kangxi era. I would look at the vases of some museum sites to compare.
Also, here is a link www.sothebys.com/zh/auctions/ecatalogue/2012/so-cheng-hk0433/lot.124.lotnum.html

I would think this type of vase was made for palace use or at least of similar quality. If you compare yours to the item at above link, do you think it is of equal quality?

Sorry, but for me there are only more questions with this... :-)
