Hi Mark,
Thanks for uploading the pictures.
The vase is not Chinese. As the mark is written in Japanese characters, it is to assume that it is Japanese, but probably not too old. The mark is unknown to me. I am not sure if it is a kiln name, artist or manufacturer.
