Since we are on a roll here...let me ask about this bowl...I purchased it at a recent estate sale...I had interpreted the marks to be from mid 1970's...however, once I listed it in my shop, I have 2 Chinese nationals frantically arguing over it...alas..I most likely sold it way below value, but that is how we learn valuable lessons..
Carolyn,this one is a new fake also. The colors and painting styles didn't exist before the second half of the 20th century. Glaze and everything show that they are not antique, and the mark is a spurious mark frequently seen added to porcelain for decoration purposes. Chinese marks cannot be used for determining age. Please read the marks section.
If you don't believe it, try to ask someone else, like asianart.com
