Hi Peter and Wife, thank you for confirming my opinion of this planter, It is a nicely done piece but I don't think it is more than 30 to possibly 50 years old, I don't think it was made as a fake, but I do agree that it was made for decoration only and the marks are only spurious, I was hoping that on some of the marks it would reveal to maker, but maybe it is even newer than I think, I bought it in a Chinese antique store that was going out of business this is one of the items that I purchased, I did not pay to much for it, the other item was a textile with the forbidden stitch, do you know anything about textiles, Thanks much, from Stan.

Hi Stan, Sorru, but I have to disappoint you. I couldn't read the nine character mark, neither could my wife. All these stamps contain some characters that are hdifficult to read; it doesn't appear to be the usual Zhuan style characters used in seals, or these are characters unknown to me. In the nine character mark there are four characters which I am unsure of. The second one has Qianlong as the first two characters, etc. I don't think that guessing is of any value, thus I leave it. But anyway, so far as I can read, these markings all aren't marks proper, and they surely are for decoration only. Nothing that helps dating in the mark, like a manufacturer's name.
