chinese or japanese vase

Thanks a lot for help with previous items. I`ve got vase with mysterious mark on the bottom. I would be very grateful for any clue on this one. Is it old, chinese and if Japanese what is the mark?

kinkozan vase

I have seen vases simular to yours that are kinkozan, do a google search.

The subject of the vase is Japanese.
There is the Japanese Hiragana character for "a" on the bottom. That is all I can tell you. Don't know age, origin or authenticity, I'm afraid.
