Chinese Bowl

I would very much appreciate an assessment of the bowl attached, specifically was it made recently or does is it an antique bowl and if so from what era? It is approximately 12 inches diameter and 2.5 inch deep. Unfortunately I do not have any further information to give in terms of history, etc. Also there is some Chinese writing on the side, can you translate?
