Thanks for the info, I have added a pic of the writing on the box & further detail.
I honestly don`t know its age but it appears to be porcelain & all the detail appears to be raised gold wire though I suppose it could be raised gold plastic but I`m wary of putting a knife to it to see if it cuts easily, incidently the bright mark at the bottom of the pic is from the camera flash,

Hello,
Is the box made of wood or is it cloth covered?
The first type would likely be from Japan, the second from China (the box itself only).

The plate itself shows a Chinese dragon. This is probably a modern item, made in China (never mind the box), in my view.
