Hi Peter,
Thank you for posting your comments. I tried my best to get close up pix with my camera. the colour on the bottom in not exactly white has a greyish hue to it.it looks lighter than the front of the base.
the inside of the top of the vase is also lighter in shade. it looks like the blue glaze has been added on top of the white.Can you zoom on the pix? you can see the blue glaze on top of the white, close to the head or legs of the foo animal.I hope this can help. I could take more professional photos in case you need me to.
