HI Peter, here is another item that I have not seen anything like. What do you think?

I don't use "modern" as it is used in European art. With that I would mean made in the last 70 years or so. The flowers are painted in a European style. That is why it doesn't look like anything Chinese.
Signs of age

Thanks for your time. There is some signs of rust and I did notice in area(s); there is a pinkish residue only observable via microscope. What time period would you consider to be modern? Again, thank you very much for your time.

This is either not Chinese or a modern version of old Chinese designs. I would opt for the former.
